2011 August 15-17 - NASA IT Summit San Francisco
Stuart attended the second annual NASA IT Summit held in San Francisco, CA. This event focused on CIOs and CTOs in the IT industry and federal government. There was a bit of everything from the great speakers and lots of fellow IT geeks to talk with, to in depth case study reviews and a flash mob dancing to Michael Jackson's greatest hits. 2011 January 27-28 - Southwest Drupal Summit
Stuart and Truyen presented a guide to Multi-Lingual Websites as part of a two hour group presentation at the first annual Southwest Drupal Summit in Houston. The pair collaborated with Jason and Bronius, all members of the Houston Drupal Users Group, and presented a lengthy introduction to several key capabilities of Drupal, using Spacely Sprockets from the Jetsons as an example corporate client website. Components covered included:
- Product definition with CCK,
- Product Catalog browsing with Views,
- Branding with Drupal Theming,
- Pre-Packaged Installations with Git and DRUSH (Drupal Shell),
- Top 10 Business Reasons to Choose Drupal,
- eCommerce with Ubercart,
- Make your site Multi-Lingual with i18n (Internationalization) and l10n (Localization).
2010 July 17 - Fort Bend Women's Center - Charity Build Event
Stuart and Truyen participated in the Charity Build Event, using Drupal to build a website-in-a-day, for the Fort Bend Women's Center. Many members of the Houston Drupal Users Group participated, and we even had help from the San Antonio Drupal Users Group.
2010 April 19-21 - DrupalCon San Francisco

2010 February 22-26 - Acquia JumpStart with Robert Douglass
Robert Douglass spent the week at Tietronix for an Acquia JumpStart program for a new NASA-related education and outreach program - Train Like An Astronaut. During his stay at Tietronix, we worked with Robert on a variety of tasks from leveraging the power of Views and CCK modules, to Internationalization (i18n) and Localization (l10n) for multi-lingual capabilities. We also had fun taking Robert on a tour of NASA's Johnson Space Center and to the Astronaut Welcome Home ceremony for the crew of STS -130. This week also marked the re-kick off of the Houston Drupal Users Group meet-ups.
2009 December 09-11 - Lullabot "Do It With Drupal"
Stuart attended his first Drupal event, learning how to apply Drupal to government and education solutions. Stuart met Bryan House of Acquia and Ed Sussman of Buzzr and began learning how they apply Drupal to various project solutions.
On the second day of the event, Stuart met a variety of Drupal users from educational institutions such as Arizona State University, Columbia, Stanford, and MIT to name just a few. Talked with Jeff Miccolis of Development Seed (Open Atrium) and Robert Ristroph of Four Kitchens in Austin. Stuart also made initial contacts with fellow Houston Drupalers - John St. Germain, Steven Evatt, and Katherine Druckman.
Stuart wrapped up the event meeting Moshe Weitzman, author of Organic Groups, and Dries Buytaert, original creator and continuing co-maintainer of Drupal.
