CHALLENGE: Identify suspected security weaknesses and compromises in a key NASA client/server application

Software: Microsoft NT Server, SQL Server, PowerBuilder, MS Access

SOLUTION: Conduct a high-level, on-site security audit of an application developed by a NASA contractor

RESULTS:

• The audit identified a myriad of security problems including a lack of password protection, a weak user authentication policy and lack of data encryption.
• The overall network and software security of this NASA client/server application now complies with the Administration’s rigid security policies.
