Stuart
S. Engelhardt
Co-Founder, Vice President
Mr. Engelhardt brings over 10 years of experience in software development and education,
including mission-critical support software and astronaut task training.
Prior to founding Tietronix, Mr. Engelhardt spent five years as a software developer at NASA’s
Johnson Space Center, authoring various onboard and ground based mission support applications for space shuttle crews.
Applications range from generic mission use applications such as a shuttle inventory management system, a cabin
depressurization monitoring application, and a robotic arm situation awareness display, to flight-specific applications
and displays for the Tethered Satellite System and the assembly flights of the International Space Station.
Mr. Engelhardt was one of three on a team awarded NASA’s Group Achievement Award for the
robotic arm situation awareness software used on the first assembly mission of the International Space Station.
He also received two individual citations for contributions to the success of missions in 1998 and 1999.
Mr. Engelhardt pursued studies in Computer Science, but came to NASA through an Aerospace
Technology program for space station flight controllers. With his background in programming, however, his skills
were soon put to use optimizing processes in the flight procedures and support document production area at NASA,
which eventually led to onboard applications. While working at NASA, Mr. Engelhardt also taught courses in programming
and networking at San Jacinto College in the evenings. Prior to coming to NASA, he worked for an environmental
inspection company in the field of refineries and chemical plants, working on quality assurance software and
multi-platform network administration.
